If you are like me and need a milk replacement due to being lactose intolerant, try oat milk! Even if you are not, oak milk is a tasty alternative just like almond milk or soy milk. It’s so easy and simple to make you will be shocked. Some recipes call for soaking the oats overnight then washing them in order to get some of that slimy consistency oats off. I’ve tried both soaking and not soaking and honestly didn’t see that much of a difference. This recipe is with not soaking the oats, which is faster and less steps but just as delicious!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup rolled oats
4 cups filtered water
1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup or agave (depending on taste)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Pinch of Salt
Milk bag (if you dont have a milk bag a cheese cloth will do)
DIRECTIONS:
Place in your nutri-bullet or any other blender all the ingredients (oats, water, maple syrup, vanilla extract and salt).
Blend for about a 1 minute or until the contents look nicely blended/smooth.
Place the contents in a milk bag or cheese cloth to strain over a large bowl. I found the milk bag to be a good investment if you will be using it often (not only for milk). Also very inexpensive on Amazon (I bought a pack of 2 for $6.99).
Place in a glass jar and store in the fridge up to 5 days. Best when cold. Shake before use as separation is normal.
Enjoy in beverages, pancakes, desserts and so much more! Easy and so quick!
