Here is an easy way I made two different types of rose water at once. A lot of recipes just boil the petals in water and that’s it. But after researching some other recipes and trying out a few I learned you can make two kinds in one! Which I quite prefer.
INGREDIENTS:
-About half a dozen rose petals (I used red but any color is really fine)
-Filtered water
Take the petals off the roses gently and clean the petals by running them through water/strain (repeat to make sure they are as clean as possible). Pat dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
Place a cleaned stone or brick that is covered with foil at the bottom of your pot. I used a small and durable stone bowl I had (placed upside down). Should be flat so you can place your bowl (heat resistant) on top to elevate. This is so you can collect the condensed rose water in your center bowl (purest part of the rose water). Place the rose petals around the center and pour in just enough water (filtered) to cover the petals.
Bring the water to a medium-high heat and boil with lid on upside down. The lid should be upside down because you will be placing a handful of ice on top. This will help accelerate the condensation process in which the center bowl will catch the rose water quicker, it will be clear!
Boil for about 20-30 minutes or until the petals loses it’s color. When you take the lid off to disgard the ice/water, becareful not to accidentally pour the ice water in the rose water. You can let it cool down a bit before to avoid spilling anything inside.
You will have 2 different types of rose water. One in the bowl that is clear (I use this part for my skin). The other will be the red/pink color rose water in the pot where you had the petals. Remove the bowl and let cool. Then transfer the clear rose water into a glass bottle.
The red/pink rose water use a strainer or milk bag to separate the petals, then also transfer rose water into a glass bottle.
You will end up with 2 different kinds, clear and red. I use the clear for my face/skin the most concentrated rose water. The red I use for my cooking, desserts or tea!
Store in fridge for 2-3 weeks.
Enjoy.
